50 Shades of Divas- May 18 ’12
First off, I’d like to apologize! I know I’ve been slacking on my posts lately, but it has been DIVA MADNESS. Christian Grey has turned my life upside down! It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks, but fabulyss nonetheless.
There were two exclusive and fabulyss Mother’s Day luncheons held in honor of E.L James. One was May 7th at Carlyle on the Green on Long Island, the other the May 11th at Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, NY. Both events were absolutely amazing!
Monday’s event was pure Diva madness! 400 DivaMoms attended this event. Women were lined up almost two hours before to get to their tables! It was quite a shock for all of the men playing golf to see all the guests strolling into Carlyle on the Green in their Louboutins. Guests were greeted with delyssious cocktails– diva elixirs, greytinis and Wines by Wives; and were able to walk around and check out the sponsor’s tables. Many moms were lined up at Joy of Moi’s table, eager to learn about their amazing products. Before the guests of honor E.L James spoke to the audience and signed books, sex therapist Logan Levkoff, Ph.D spoke to the moms and answered all of their questions. Logan reminded us that “we are all sex goddesses!” Kristen James, celebrity trainer & fitness expert, premiered her exclusive workout “50 Shapes” inspired by the books! The workout is built to enhance women’s sex lives and targets key areas (that we might be using a little bit more since reading Fifty Shades!)
Friday was just as fabulyss! The Willow Ridge Country club is absolutely beautiful. The lunch included a wine tasting by Wines by Wives and a cocktail hour. Guests were able to walk around during the cocktail hour and look at the sponsor’s tables. Yet again, ladies were lined up at Joy of Moi’s table! Guests also loved the necklaces made by Daring Designs New York. Their “Laters Baby” collection, is a beautiful handcrafted diamond neck-tie necklace inspired by Christian Grey. Celebrity stylist June Ambrose spoke to the DivaMoms about the importance of dressing SEXY. I loved that we were able to have an intimate Q & A with E.L. before she signed their books.
On May 9th I went to the most beautiful event for the R Baby foundation at the Plaza. The foundation was started by Phyllis Robinovitz. Phyllis is the most beautiful person inside and out. The foundation was started after the loss of her newborn daughter Rebecca who suffered from a viral infection that was not properly treated. The purpose of the foundation is to bring awareness to the proper diagnosis and treatment of newborns. The goal of the foundation is to save as many babies’ lives as possible. The event was absolutely beautiful. Phyllis you and your husband are an inspiration!
I hope everyone had an amazing Mother’s Day! I spent the day with my family. The highlight of mine was when Jackson and Ollie came into my room, carrying an iced coffee (… they know me too well!) and a cupcake with a candle singing “Happy Mother’s Day” to me. There’s really nothing better!
In the midst of all the chaos last week, I did catch a break for a few hours. I held a Mother’s Day event with VBeaute Skincare and founderJulie Macklowe at the beautiful 400 Fifth Avenue. DivaMoms were pampered with delysscious mini facials using the skin care line. It was an evening of business, cocktails and cosmetics!
It’s so important to take a few seconds in your busy diva days to relax. I’m making a point to spend a few full hours with my boys every day, too. This week I took Ollie to the Met. Teaching him about all of the artists was such a great experience. He told me that “Jackson Pollock was cool because his brother is Jackson.” TOO cute! It’s never a dull moment with Oliver. I cannot believe he will be graduating Pre-K in a few weeks. In a few short weeks all graduation parties and end of school festivities will be in full swing!
The stress of these past few weeks made me realize: I am taking up yoga! Whether that means I take it two times a week, or only once — I’m going to really stick with it!
Speaking of exercise… bathing suit season is JUST around the corner and I am so not ready!! I can’t believe Memorial Day is already next weekend. Summer is practically here. This season, we joined Catalina Beach Club. Our old beach club was completely demolished from the hurricane!
I had the honor of hosting an evening with Jennifer Gilbert on the beautiful rooftop of One Museum Mile on Wednesday evening. The DivaMoms book club hosted a very intimate event for the release of Jennifer Gilbert’s “I Never Promised You a Goodie Bag.” Jennifer, founder of successful event company Save the Date and a member of the Real Housewives of New York City’s third season, had a powerful secret from her past. The book is an inspiring memoir that follows Jennifer’s story.
On Thursday I moderated a discussion for “Spirituality for Kids“. It’s was gorgeous afternoon tea for the SFK website launch. Spirituality for Kids is a not-for-profit organization that provides free online classes to foster spiritual awareness and dialogue between parents and children. My boys are so excited to get started with the program! The program is absolutely free, which is amazing because that means moms everywhere can take part with their children.
Hopefully the next few weeks will bring some sense of “normalcy” (as much as it can be in the diva world), and my posts will be more frequent! Wishing everyone a Fabulyss weekend, it’s going to be gorgeous here in NYC! We will be busy at Birthday parties and baseball. I am also going to stop by the New York Family Magazine, Baby Show at some point during the weekend. Hope to see everyone out and about!
